Maria matshkalyan
Maria Matshkalyan, born 2001 in Yerevan, Armenia, began playing the violin at 7 years old. She currently lives in Madrid where she is pursuing her Master’s degree from Escuela Superior de Música Reina Sofía under the guidance of Marco Rizzi. She is also a violin section member of Teatro Real’s Orquesta Sinfónica de Madrid.
Before moving to Spain, Maria earned her Bachelor’s degree from the Yerevan Komitas State Conservatory, where she studied with Karen Shahgaldyan. In addition, as part of the Erasmus+ program, she broadened her artistic and technical skills at the Zagreb Music Academy with Leonid Sorokow.
An award-winning violinist, Maria has achieved recognition in numerous national and international competitions. In 2016, she performed as a soloist with the Armenian National Symphony Orchestra, and throughout her career she also played as a soloist and chamber musician in France, Switzerland, Austria, Croatia, Spain and Italy. In addition to these opportunities, she has performed with the Orchestra Freixenet of the Escuela Superior de Música Reina Sofía, working with renowned conductors such as Peter Csaba, Zsolt Nagy, and András Schiff.
In addition to performing, Maria underwent several masterclasses with world-renowned violinists, including Hrachya Harutyunian, Emmanuel Tjeknavorian, Sergei Dogadin, Fedor Rudin, Miriam Fried and Ulf Wallin.
Maria Matshkalyan continues to develop her artistry and captivate audiences with her expressive performances and dedication to her musical journey.
